Divefolio support

Safety warning. Divefolio is a dive logbook and an information tool. It does not replace a dive computer, training or official tables. The calculations and tables it shows are indicative; only the official documents are authoritative. Dive within your certification and your agency’s rules.

What is Divefolio?

Divefolio is a dive logbook for iPhone: your dives, a map of your sites, Bluetooth download from your Shearwater computer, import of your old logbook, statistics, planning aids, learning pages and checklists. It works without an account: your data stays on your iPhone (see the privacy policy).

To help you, tell us: your iPhone model and iOS version, the Divefolio version (Me › Settings › About) and what you were doing. Do not attach your logbook unless we ask for it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I bring over my old logbook?

In the empty Logbook, tap “Import a file” (or Me › Settings › Data › Import a file), then “Choose a file…” and select the file exported by your old logbook: a UDDF file (the exchange format of many dive logging programs), a Subsurface file or the logbook of the Dive Log app (.sql file). An import preview is shown: nothing is written until you tap “Import”. Importing the same file again adds no duplicates: the app recognises the dives already present.

How do I connect my Shearwater computer?

  1. Close the Shearwater app on the phone and Shearwater Cloud on your PC or Mac: the dive computer talks to one device at a time.
  2. Put the charged dive computer next to the iPhone (less than one metre).
  3. In the Dive day tab, tap “Connect a dive computer”, then “Search”.
  4. On the dive computer: main menu › Bluetooth. Stay on that screen during the whole operation.
  5. When it appears in the list, tap “Connect”. The first time, iOS may ask you to accept a pairing.

The Teric is the tested model. Other Shearwater models that use the same protocol are recognised but have not been validated; the Perdix 3 is not supported.

Bluetooth does not find my dive computer. What can I do?

Bring the dive computer closer to the iPhone, check that its Bluetooth screen is open, that the Shearwater app and Shearwater Cloud are closed, and that Divefolio is allowed to use Bluetooth (Settings › Divefolio). If the problem persists, tap “Copy diagnostics” on the dive computer page: the app creates a file (serial number masked) that you can send to us. It never sends it itself.

How do I back up and restore my logbook?

Me › Settings › Data › Backup. “Back up now” creates a full copy (logbook and media). An automatic backup is also made every day when the app opens (7 days and 4 weeks kept). “Share the latest backup” sends it to Files, an e-mail, etc.; you can also turn on a copy in an iCloud Drive folder. “Restore a backup…” replaces the whole current logbook, after an automatic safety backup.

How do I change the language or the units?

Me › Settings › Language (French, English or the iPhone’s) and Units (metric: m, °C, bar; imperial: ft, °F, psi). The change is immediate. You can also choose the consumption shown (RMV in L/min or SAC in bar/min).

Where is my data?

On your iPhone, in the app’s private space. There is no account and no Divefolio server. The copies you make (backup, UDDF or CSV export, PDF) go where you send them. Details are in the privacy policy.

How do I delete my data?

For one dive: open it › Edit › “Delete dive”; it goes to the trash (Logbook “…” menu › Trash) for 30 days and can be restored. For the whole logbook: Me › Settings › Data › “Erase everything”. The app first makes a full backup, then asks you to type the word shown; nothing is erased if the backup fails. Deleting the app also removes its data from the iPhone (keep a backup if you want to keep it).

My imported dives have odd numbering or sites.

The Logbook “…” menu › “Put dive numbers in order” reports missing, duplicate or out-of-order numbers and offers a fix with a preview. After an import, “Complete my sites” proposes a position for the dives whose site is not on the map yet; nothing is saved without your approval.

Can I sync with a PC or a Mac?

Not yet: version 1.0 does not sync with a PC or a Mac. To move your dives from one device to another, use a backup (see above). UDDF export is for exchanging with other software, not for keeping a full copy.
